Two projects engineered by Dewberry, a Fairfax, Virginia-based consulting firm, have been selected as regional award winners in Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine's annual "Best of the Best" program for the mid-Atlantic.

ENR MidAtlantic recognized CityCenterDC as Best Project in the Office/Retail/Mixed-Use Developments category. The 2.5-million-square-foot mixed-use project spans three blocks in downtown Washington, D.C.'s Penn Quarter neighborhood. Phase 1 consists of four residential towers and two trophy-class office towers, along with shops, restaurants, and a public park. Dewberry provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for the development, which achieved LEED Silver^® for the residential towers and LEED Gold for the office towers. The development is also certified LEED Gold for Neighborhood Development.

Dewberry worked with the design team of Foster + Partners and Shalom Baranes Associates to coordinate the systems within the complex project, which was developed by Hines. Clark Construction Group served as the general contractor.

In the Renovation/Restoration category, ENR MidAtlantic recognized the Wonder Bread building at 641 S Street, NW, in Washington, D.C., with an Award of Merit. Originally built in 1913, the 98,000-square-foot building has been restored to retail and office space. As part of the Douglas Development team, Dewberry provided site/civil engineering and surveying services for the project. The team also included R2L Architects and McCullough Construction.
