Community members from Osceola County, Florida, recently celebrated the opening of the final stretch of the Poinciana Parkway with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Marigold Avenue overpass. The final segment of the parkway stretches from Marigold Avenue to Cypress Parkway. In its entirety, the 10-mile parkway connects the North-Central Osceola County transportation system to Polk County, allowing residents to travel north toward Orlando along a less congested route.
The design-build project was designed by Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, which teamed with Jr. Davis Construction. The firm's services included design surveys, roadway and drainage designs, signage and pavement markings, utility coordination, environmental permits, and bridge plans.
The Osceola County Expressway Authority hosted the ceremony, which included government officials, Dewberry employees, and community members who gathered to celebrate the occasion. The completion of the project significantly cuts travel time for those commuting to and from the Poinciana community.
