The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently announced that Dewberry has been selected to provide transportation engineering services for the I-64 Capacity Improvements - Segment III project in York County, Virginia.
The intent of the project is to widen I-64 from approximately one mile west of Newman Road to roughly one mile west of Humelsine Parkway and Marquis Center Parkway. Improvements to the interstate will include drainage design, stormwater management facilities, noise barrier walls, and grass medians.
The firm's services will include design and construction support, including surveying; structure and bridge design; and roadway, environmental, geotechnical, hydraulic, right-of-way, and utility engineering.
Construction of the approximately $180-million project is expected to begin in the fall of 2018.
