The Sherburne County Government Center in Elk River, Minnesota, is located on 10 acres and features numerous sustainability elements, including natural light harvesting, low-energy LED fixtures, and paperless court operations. The design includes improved security for all stakeholders within the building and throughout the site, as well as circulation and wayfinding that maintains separation of court and public areas.

Still under construction, the Loudoun County Courthouse in Leesburg, Virginia, includes a new district courts building, renovation of two existing historic courts buildings, and the design and construction of a parking garage. In addition to architecture and landscape architecture services, Dewberry is providing engineering services, including civil, mechanical, security, technology, and audio/visual design.

Dewberry Technology Design Manager Tom Craft, CTS-D, RCDD, also authored two case studies included in the series: “Integration of Network-Based Audio Processors and VoIP Phone Systems” and “Streaming of Courtroom Proceedings.”
