Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that it has been recognized with two design awards by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Northeast Illinois chapter, both in the distinguished buildings over $5-million category. The firm also announced that it has been recognized by American School & University for its Bradley University Business and Engineering Convergence Center.
The University of Illinois at Chicago Engineering
Innovation Building was one of two Dewberry projects recognized in the
distinguished buildings over $5-million category. The firm provided project
management, programming, concept development, architectural, interiors,
furniture, and technology design services for the 57,500-square-foot building.
It houses three engineering departments and features the only high-bay
structural testing lab of its kind in the area. The building recently earned
LEED® Gold certification.
The Broadview Public Library Renovation and Addition was
also recognized in the distinguished buildings over $5-million category. The
firm created a design that maximizes space and improves access to all parts of
the building. The existing 16,000-square-foot facility was renovated to convert
under-used lower level space into public meeting rooms, study areas, and
collaborative technology spaces. An additional 5,500-square-feet were designed
to open the floor plan and make each space more accessible.
Bradley University’s Business and Engineering
Convergence Center in Peoria, Illinois, was recognized with the 2021
Outstanding Design – Specialized Facility award from American School &
University. The 270,000-square-foot facility is intended to cross-train
students in the industries of business and engineering. The design features a
central atrium, which is lined with labs, stock ticker, coffee shop, and group
collaboration rooms.
