Urban Stream Restoration with Innovative Green Stormwater Infrastructure

Enhancements in and around Cobbs Creek Park will provide long-term social, economic, and ecological uplift with pedestrian-friendly gateways, trailheads, and trails while integrating green stormwater infrastructure.

Our strategies are developed to reduce sediment load, increase floodplain connectivity, and improve stormwater wetland treatment.

Our stream restoration design for Cobbs Creek will rehabilitate the stream corridor ecosystem, repair and protect existing infrastructure, improve park use, and manage street side stormwater runoff with green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) and stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs).

The overall goal of the project is to address combined sewer overflow (CSO) impacts in this dense, urban environment as part of Philadelphia's ambitious 25-year, $1.67-billion Green City, Clean Waters program. The program is designed to protect and enhance the city's watersheds by managing stormwater with innovative green infrastructure to comply with environmental laws and regulations.
